| Jim Manthorpe is the author of Pembrokeshire Coast Path and South Downs Way and has researched and updated several other Trailblazer guides including Trans-Canada Rail Guide and Trekking in Ladakh . Jim developed wanderlust the moment his father armed him with a stick and a rucksack on the first of several childhood trips to Wales and Scotland. He later became an integral member of Stirling University Mountaineering Club. Since then he has explored almost every glen, peak and bothy in the Scottish Highlands and has found himself windswept and soaked through in Scandinavia, the Alps, the Himalaya, the Pyrenees and Patagonian Chile. Jim's enthusiasm for writing, photography, and his love of wild places have never waned despite experiences such as nearly losing his hair to an exploding gas stove in a Pyrenean mountain hut. He now divides his time between working in London at Stanfords, the travel bookshop, and travel writing. |
